Grade 1 – Funkaar 2026: Theatre as a Lens for Learning
Young learners take the stage to share their journey
At Shiv Nadar School Faridabad, the Grade 1 Funkaar event marked the culmination of our learners' month-long journey of exploration around the theme "Theatre as a Lens for Learning." To give every family a close and personal experience, the event ran across the day in one-hour sessions for each section's parents.
The celebration began in the Dance Room at South Block, where learners presented their interdisciplinary journey across EVS, English, Hindi, Theatre and Visual Arts through a vibrant presentation and an engaging panel discussion. The discussion highlighted not only what they had learnt, but also how their thinking had grown throughout the journey.
The experience continued with a Mathematics display in the Art Room, where learners showcased their understanding through Rangometry displays. The journey culminated in the Library with a beautiful Animal Sanctuary model, created through the integration of Visual Arts and EVS. The sanctuary featured animals crafted from earthen clay, complemented by a creative Hindi display that added meaningful language and artistic expression to the experience.
Throughout the event, learners confidently shared their learning, performances and reflections, showing curiosity, creativity, collaboration and a wonderful sense of ownership. Parents especially appreciated the confidence, happiness and joy with which the children shared their work. It was truly a joyful celebration of learning and of our youngest learners' growing confidence.
Grade 2 – Funkaar 2026: Learning Through the Arts
Stories, rhythm, seeds and saris: a month of joyful discovery
Grade 2 learners at Shiv Nadar School Faridabad embarked on a month-long journey of exploration under the theme "Learning Through the Arts." Across Languages, Mathematics, EVS, Theatre, Music and Visual Arts, learners explored ideas, experimented with different forms of creative expression and made meaningful connections across disciplines.
They explored Grandma's Sari through storytelling and Madhubani-inspired textile art, composed and presented rhythmic poems in Hindi, and investigated healthy living through The Hungry Giant using the Mantle of the Expert approach, where children step into the role of experts to solve real problems. A textile art workshop with artist Ms. Snigdha further encouraged learners to explore creative possibilities beyond paper.
The journey culminated on 16 September, when parents joined their children for presentations and a Learning Walk that brought the month's experiences together. Families explored different types of seeds using magnifying glasses, experimented with leaf tracing, visited an art gallery and took part in a "Create Your Own Story" experience. Learners also proudly presented their rhythmic poems and EVS learning to their parents.
The culmination was a celebration of creativity, collaboration and expression, and a lovely reminder of the many ways the arts can make learning meaningful and joyful.
